Biography

Elizabeth Hedberg-Dirk’s research focuses on the use of biodegradable synthetic materials to support growth of living tissues such as bone and heart valves to replace damaged or missing tissue.  Along with developing new polymeric materials, Dr. Dirk also develops novel, inexpensive processing methods to fabricate materials with spatial and temporal variations on the length scale of human tissues.

    Development of Biocompatible Materials with Complex 3D Nanometer-Scale Architectures
    This funding supports the adaptation of an existing 3D patterning method for UV crosslinkable materials for the fabrication of biocompatible, biodegradable scaffolds.

    This funding supports the development of biocompatible 3D nano-porous scaffolds for the controlled release of anti-cancer agents.
